From Our Shop to Your Home

The caliber of a kitchen can make or break the entire aesthetic of a home—so it’s very important that you pick the right countertop material.

But there are so many types of countertops to choose from! It’s true, the decision can be overwhelming. At Wallstone Stone Countertops, we have four types of countertops materials, and we love all of them for different reasons. We’re sure that you will too.

So, how do you go about choosing between these different countertop types? Start by learning all that you can about each unique choice. Our goal in this article is to give you a brief rundown of the four materials we offer so you can get familiar with what’s in front of you.

Marble

Marble covers a whole lot of bases. Sophistication? Check. Durability? Check. Timelessness? Check. This is a stone that many people love because it has the ability to brighten a room and bring a sense of class to it at the same time.

The extra maintenance that marble requires is worth it. It’s not much more than the average stone needs—you just need to be careful with acidic substances around marble because they cause etch and dull its surface.

Marble should be your go-to choice if you’re a baker by trade. Its surface stays cool no matter what, which provides a great surface to roll out dough.

Quartz

Quartz falls on the other side of the spectrum regarding maintenance. As opposed to marble, it requires almost nothing. Since it’s a nonporous material, it doesn’t need to be sealed—ever—and it’s inherently hygienic. This makes it a great choice for the kitchen and the bathroom.

Quartz is a very hard material, but since there are resins included in its composition and are a type of plastic, be careful with hot items. Always use a hot pad or a trivet to prevent melting, scorching, or other types of heat damage.

Granite

Granite countertops are bold, durable, and classic. These slabs add visual interest to a room and come in all sorts of designs and colors, so there is something for everyone.

This countertop is known for its durability. It’s created under intense pressure and heat beneath the earth’s surface, so it’s no wonder it has no issue with hot pots and pans. If you want to remain safe, though, no one will stop you from using a trivet.

Quartzite

Quartzite countertops come with a very unique look that is often compared to marble. But the great thing about quartzite is that it comes with less maintenance than marble—because it’s so dense and hard. It’s not nearly as sensitive as marble, which means that you can enjoy its beauty without having to worry about damage.

It’s highly heat resistant and scratch resistant, just like granite, and it doesn’t require any special chemicals in order to clean it. All you need is soap and water, and you’re set.
